After Austria our trip takes us onwards to Slovenia – the country that will take us back to the sea! The Mediterranean Sea and we’re very excited about it! But it would be a pitty to just drive straight through. We take our time to drop by a few amazing natural wonders on the way. We get a taste of the blue that awaits us in the Med from the river So\u010da that flows in the brightest of blue through the mountains. It glows through the rocky valley in bright turquoise and we try to supress the feeling that we originally wanted to be in tropical waters by now. Here we are being closely chased south by cold and snow, but still totally worth it!<\/p>\n

Nach \u00d6sterreich f\u00fchrt uns unsere Reise weiter nach Slowenien – das Land, in dem wir das Mittelmeer erreichen wollen und worauf wir uns schon riesig freuen! Doch es w\u00e4re wirklich viel zu schade, durch Slowenien einfach nur durchzufahren! Wir nehmen uns also Zeit f\u00fcr ein paar tolle Naturwunder auf dem Reiseweg. Einen ordentlichen Vorgeschmack auf die Farben des Mittelmeeres holen wir uns dazu im Tal der So\u010da und ihren Nebenfl\u00fcssen. Die So\u010da flie\u00dft hier in herrlichen blaut\u00fcrkisen Farben. Dieser Anblick l\u00e4sst uns auch weiterhin unterdr\u00fccken, dass wir eigentlich in w\u00e4rmere Gefilde reisen m\u00f6chten. Aber alles zu seiner Zeit, wir reisen hier den Minusgraden und dem Schnee weiterhin eine Nasenl\u00e4nge voraus!<\/p>\n

Our base is the only open camp in winter “Camp Liza” in Bovec, wich we can recommend. In summer this place and the many surrounding camps must be full to the brim with rafting and white water rafting tourists. But at the moment we are again the only guests.

Unser Quartier ist das winterge\u00f6ffnete “Camp Liza” in Bovec, welches wir empfehlen k\u00f6nnen! Im Sommer gibt es hier regelrechten Rafting- und Kajak-Tourismus, wir sind allerdings im November grad die einzigen G\u00e4ste. <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

Our first stop is the large gorges of the Soca. Mark stands on the entrance where the river plummets!

Wir besuchen die Schluchten der So\u010da, Mark steht hier grad an deren Beginn. <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

The next kilometer or so the river has cut itself deep into the stone forming a steep channel.

Das Wasser schl\u00e4ngelt sich auf dem n\u00e4chsten knappen Kilometer durch eine schmale Klamm, welche sich die So\u010da hier gegraben hat. <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

\"Rushing <\/a>
Rushing through the narrow passes the river can get a little violent. Especially during rainfalls or during the spring melt the river can even fill up the entire gorge.

Schl\u00e4ngeln ist eigentlich untertrieben, es rauscht hindurch trifft es vielleicht eher. An Regentagen oder nach der Schneeschmelze ist der Wasserstand noch h\u00f6her und kann die Schlucht fast f\u00fcllen. <\/div> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

And this gorge can be up to 15m deep!

Die Schlucht ist bis zu 15 Meter tief. <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

And just 1.5m wide in some places!

We find a steep trail following the river and are greeted with several stunning views of this gem.

Wir laufen entlang der Klamm und immer wieder bieten sich neue Blicke auf dieses Ph\u00e4nomen im Karstgestein. <\/div> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

There and about we spy a trout! So clear waters!

Wir sp\u00e4hen schon permanent ins Wasser und endlich: Eine Forelle, in einem B\u00e4chlein helle! Das Wasser ist klar bis zum Grund. <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

Here and there a bridge crosses the narrow passage. Some of dubious strength, others hanging from the last bit of wire.

Gemeint ist nat\u00fcrlich nicht die Forelle! Hier nochmal in der Vergr\u00f6\u00dferung, damit ihr auch das Objekt der Begierde, das Insekt, sehen k\u00f6nnt!! <\/div> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

Cylamen! Left and right of the river one can find these little plants. For Dine it is a true sign that we are getting closer to the Med.

Am Ufer wachsen au\u00dferdem schon Alpenveilchen – man liebt sie oder man ha\u00dft sie. F\u00fcr Dine sind sie ein eindeutiges Zeichen, dass wir uns dem Mittelmeer n\u00e4hern! <\/div> <\/div>

Eyes on the rivere we often forget how high the mountains are around us. After all we are in the Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps! The only national park in Slovenia.

Vor lauter Bewunderung des Flusses vergisst man fast, wie hoch die Berge ringsherum sind. Wir sind im Natioanlpark Triglav in den Julischen Alpen, dem einzigen Nationalpark Sloweniens! <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

The evening nears and the eye of sauron glows in the distance. A cold quickly envelopes the land. The darknes comes fast in these places.

After a steep climb we get a last glance at the Boka-waterfall before total darkness. 106m it drops right after emerging from the rock as a spring and just to vanish again a few hundred meters later into a dry river bed. It’s supposed to be connected to a huge cave system within the huge mountain behind it.

Wir besuchen auch den Boka-Wasserfall, hier f\u00e4llt das Wasser 106 Meter in die Tiefe, kurz nach der Quelle! In Regenzeiten ist der Wasserfall sehr viel st\u00e4rker, aber wir beschweren uns mal lieber nicht \u00fcber zu wenig Regen \ud83d\ude00 <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

The mountain region is favous for its Bovec Cheese made from sheep’s milk. And we just had to try some! At a private cheesery we could get a quick view at the sleeping cheeses, so cute!!! Two months they rest and grow before the young cheeses get butchered and finally tickle our tastebuds! A true pleasure to behold of!

Eine Spezialit\u00e4t der Region ist der Bovec-Cheese aus Schafsmilch, der zum Abschluss nicht fehlen durfte! In einer kleinen privaten K\u00e4serei d\u00fcrfen wir einen Blick in die K\u00e4sekammer auf die schlafenden K\u00e4se werfen!
